A weekend of
Warhammer: The Old World*

*in a freaking castle

Command mighty armies at a real medieval castle.

The realms of man have been safe for too long, and war once again threatens the fragile peace. Dark forces gather in the hidden corners of the Empire. This is WarCastle - an immersive narrative campaign set in Warhammer: The Old World and hosted in a real, actual honest-to-goodness castle. This epic event is a long-weekend saga told by 30 players battling for glory and plunder across a huge interactive campaign map, using the current Warhammer: The Old World ruleset and every legal army list, including Grand Armies, Armies of Infamy and every single Legacy faction. And you’ll do this in the stunning surroundings of Middleton Castle, near Kings Lynn.Your forces will grow and develop as they crash across a great landscape built with Mighty Empires terrain, using the current Warhammer: The Old World Ruleset and a modified version of the legendary sixth edition Warhammer Fantasy Battles campaign ruleset - and all 17 factions are welcome! Your battles will grow over the weekend, from smaller clashes between greenhorn battalions, through full pitched battles between seasoned troops, to a colossal final battle to cap it all off - using exquisite, fully-painted terrain. Throughout this, you’ll earn personal points for generalship and completing hidden agendas, and build up the strength of your alliance in the face of your rivals, all the while telling a shared story of heroism and villainy.Within two-and-a-half hours’ drive from London and Birmingham, Middleton Castle was built in the 15th century, and has been owned by many of the most aristocratic families in Britain. Now used as a luxury events space, it’s the perfect backdrop for our narrative campaign. You’ll sleep there, eat there and battle there, and when the dust settles, we’ll plan incredible social events with your fellow generals. There will be awards for victory and defeat, for painting, sportsmanship and…Warhammer trivia knowledge. We’re planning this event for 6-9 November 2026. Space in the castle is strictly limited - only so many people are allowed to enter at one time - so register your interest soon.

Bring your army - we’ve handled everything else.

This November, we want to bring the Old World back into its rightful home: Middleton Castle! Here's what awaits you within its walls:

  • An epic tale: You and 28 fellow generals will be immersed into a hand-crafted narrative Warhammer campaign set in the Old World, where every charge and challenge will help write an epic story - with twists and turns along the way

  • An incredible setting: Middleton Castle is a historic late-medieval castle nestled in the gorgeous English countryside, around two-and-a-half hours from London

  • By fans, for fans: Your hosts are Grant and Chris - a Warhammer fanatic and an events specialist who yearn to provide a different experience for Old World fans. WarCastle is the perfect counterbalance to the competitive scene - your forces will grow and develop as your battle

  • Mighty empires: We’re using a modified version of the classic Warhammer Mighty Empires campaign tools, as well as other rules including the magnificent General’s Compendium from 2003

  • All the trimmings: We’re planning more than a dozen thematic tables with a range of fully-painted terrain and unique features, a complete campaign map that grows as the weekend goes on, and attendants on hand to answer rules questions and anything else you may need

  • Chambers fit for an Emperor: Stay on site in one 15 luxury bedrooms, or join the vanguard as a daytime attendee for the discerning general

  • March on your stomach: Fuel the war effort with full catering, including breakfast, lunch and dinner served within the castle’s grand dining hall

  • The mark of honour: Every attendee will receive goodies, including an exclusive WarCastle 2026 challenge coin - a relic to prove you held the line when the situation was most dire

  • Awards season: There will be awards for victory and defeat, for painting, sportsmanship and…Warhammer trivia knowledge

  • Fireside strategy: When the dice fall silent, the camaraderie continues. You can enjoy board games, trivia and late-night hobby talk with fellow commanders by an open hearth

Claim your place in the halls.

We strive to make WarCastle as accessible as possible; however, we are sometimes limited by the historic nature of our venues. While the ground floor of Middleton Castle is fully accessible to all attendees, please be aware that the bedrooms are located on the upper floors and are only reachable via stairs, as there are no lifts at the castle. If you have specific requirements or questions, please contact us as we are happy to help you plan your trip.

Our vision.

We are planning an epic event with high standards of hospitality and an epic backdrop - and Middleton Castle is exactly the right setting. However, booking a historic castle within reach of London for exclusive use across a full weekend is a very significant investment, and we really do understand that this is an expensive hobby retreat.By limiting our first event to just 30 players, we’ve prioritised a high-end, immersive experience over a crowded one, ensuring that the atmosphere matches the scale of the venue. Think of this as our "proof of concept". Our goal is to make this first retreat a massive success to show what’s possible when we combine history with wargaming. If we can get the community behind this, it opens the door for us to organise future events that maintain this magic while exploring more accessible ways to bring everyone together.

Early Bird tickets on sale now.

WarCastle 2026 will run from 6–9 November, and Early Bird tickets are on sale for a short period of time! Secure your place now to save at least £100 before standard pricing takes effect. These rates are available for a short time only - don't miss out!
